Maybe it happened the day you saw the line on the pregnancy test. Maybe, it was the first time you felt that flutter in your belly. Or maybe, it was at your first ultrasound, where you saw a baby wiggling and waving on the screen. A real, live, human baby. Your baby.

Most people have a moment when it hits them: You’re really doing this. You’re having a baby. And that means, this baby is going to have to come out.

However the moment happened for you, one thing is for sure: you have questions. Probably a lot of them, but maybe you don’t even know what they are yet. You have fears, worries, and concerns about how this is all going to go down. You may have discovered the endless information and opinions about everything to do with having a baby- and you may feel a little overwhelmed by it all.

Maybe you’re not sure what to expect when labour begins (or even how to tell when it does), or about how to prepare for giving birth. Perhaps your partner feels nervous about being your sole support person during such an intense time. There’s so much to plan for, and most couples feel like they’re missing something.

That’s where we come in.

Having a doula is a little having a best friend or older sister that’s been there, done that. We understand how pregnancy changes everything, and we know what you’re going through. We know what questions you have, and where you can find the answers. We have the tips, secrets, resources, and compassion to make it just a little bit easier. We understand the uncertainty you feel, and the peace you have when you know what to expect.

Your doulas are your personal pregnancy and birth guide, helping you navigate your experience in your own way. When you feel overwhelmed, your doulas are just a text or phone call away to help you work through it. Wondering where the best prenatal yoga is, or need some feedback on which breast pump to buy? We’ve got your back.

We get to know you, and we understand your goals and fears. We’ll empower you to make the decisions that are right for you and your baby. And we’ll help you make sense of everything that’s coming your way.

And when the big day comes, we’ll be there, too- cheering you on, guiding you through it, and believing in you at every turn until your baby is in your arms. No matter how it happens, we support that.

When the suggestion of a doula came up initially, I wasn’t sure it was for us. I was wrong. My doula’s support during my pregnancy, and most importantly in the delivery room was crucial! As first time parents, we had no idea what to expect during the labour process. I speak for both myself and my husband when I say our doula was one of the best decisions we made! Her emotional support & calm nature was amazing while I was in labour, and following the birth of our daughter, her knowledge was beyond helpful and she was there if we needed anything, had questions or just wanted an extra ear! Thank you Harbour City Doulas!
